Chapters 1 - 2

Once again I find myself late to starting another book that I don't think I'm truly going to enjoy reading. After reading chapters 1-2 I cant say that my original predictions of the book are very far from the truth. So far what I'm seeing in this book is the typical book that we have been reading all the way from elementary school up, a story about a group of people who are being oppressed coming together to overcome many of their struggles.  All though the classic method of skimming mixed with spark notes usually does the job when it comes to the lack of interest in the books I am assigned for English class usually does the trick, I actually am trying to read this one all the way through. Back to actually commenting on chapters one through two i thought it was interesting that right away there is a child who dies. I think this might just be the authors way of starting the book out with something sad so when more bad things happen to the African people it doesn't come as much of a surprise, a way of foreshadowing almost. I hope this book keeps my attention, and i can catch up in my reading.
